Blue Russian pulled out all the stops to win not only once, but twice on Sunday August 9th at the York Raceway. Owned by J.Mycock and J.Shannahan, trained by S.Teeboon and skillfully driven by A.Stenhouse, Blue Russian was determined not to be beaten in both the Flying Mile in race 3, and then again in Race 8 over one and a quarter miles.
His driver said "He just loves to race" and this was clear from the horse's determination not to concede to a strong field in his last race.
Both races were sponsored by Zilco, and prizes awarded by Fiona Bonney (director) and Tony Bouvier (Zilco's French trotting specialist). Mr. Bouvier is more usually found at the big tracks of France, but he was impressed by the fitness and ability of the UK trained horses over the weekend.
